Craft Hope for Haiti

No matter where you turn, the news coming out of Haiti is just heartbreaking. If you have been looking for a way to help, be sure to check out Craft Hope's etsy shop.

Craft Hope was founded by Jade Sims and is run by many talented crafters. It is their hope to combine their love for crafting and desire to help others into a project to make a difference around the world.

If you are looking for a way to help, consider supporting Doctors Without Borders by either donating a handmade item or shopping in their Etsy store. 100% of the proceeds benefit Doctors Without Borders. It just two days, they have raised over $7,000.

You can visit Craft Hope for more information on this project as well as some of their previous ones.

Happy New Year!
This is my new calendar for the year and I LOVE it! I've always had a love of paper goods and this fits the bill perfectly. It was the perfect gift for myself this year along with a new pack of colored pencils.
I'm not really one for resolutions but I do like to set some goals (or things I hope to do) in the New Year. What about you?

Holiday Happenings

With the holiday season upon us (and passing all too quickly), I've been busy working in the studio on new items for the shop. My hope was to create unique (and many one-of-a-kind) items to suit many gift-giving needs while keeping the current financial situation in mind. Items range from wine totes and small accessories to larger bags.

Happy Holidays!

Happy Thanksgiving (and few shop notes)

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Take time to enjoy the day surrounded by your friends and family.

After enjoying your dinner, be sure to check out the shop .. I will be having some specials in honor of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday tradition (or craziness depending on how you see it).

Will you be braving the crowds in the wee hours of Friday morning?

Just in time for the holidays....

Here are some new items just added to the shop... just in time to get a head start on your holiday shopping. Free gift with purchases of $30 or more thru Wednesday. All items come packaged ready for gift giving and include a coordinating gift tag.

Stay tuned for some Black Friday/Cyber Monday specials as well....

I ventured out to do a little shopping today and have to say that I was quite surprised at how crowded it was. There were a few "must have" items on my list and after seeing how scarce they were, I picked them up afraid they wouldn't be there after the holiday. I guess piece of mind is better than a few dollars saved.
Be sure to check back here for special savings....
Enjoy the holiday week!

Art Projects for Kids

As a mom of three young children, who enjoy art projects, I find myself constantly looking for new projects that will interest them but will also be a nice addition to the art in our home. One of my favorite blogs, Bloesem Kids, has a wonderful array of art projects for children.

BloesemKids is "about design for kids". It features weekly craft projects from four craft contributors each of whom have their own blogs. Projects range from watercolor resist paintings (as pictured above) to puppets and collages. In addition to craft projects, BloesemKids also features cooking with kids, mom stories and various artist profiles.

We've done many of the art projects featured and many of them adorn the walls of our home. I can guarantee that you will enjoy some of these projects as much as your children and some would make wonderful gifts for the upcoming holidays.

Enjoy!

A Summer Reading Project of My Own

With the weather this summer being so unpredictable, I'm constantly trying to find things to do to keep boredom at bay. It's been so rainy in our area that beach trips have been few and trips to the local library have been numerous. After repeatedly carrying an armful of books out of the library, I realized that each of the kids could carry their own bag of books and it would have the added bonus of keeping the books in one place once they were home.

Anna Maria Horner shares a tutorial for whipping up a simple library tote from just two dishtowels. It's the perfect-sized tote for the kids to carry their own books and quick to whip up. I may even need to make one for myself.
enjoy!
